Update June 16 - Video/photo montage from Joel Martin's 2 year residency with the Grammy Award winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus (May 2008) - The piece is the Jazzical version of Debussy's Golliwog Cake Dance as a fully staged singing, acting and dancing extravaganza. Check out the music, the live video is coming shortly here as well as You Tube. Joel has written over a dozen compositions for BYC spanning a variety of genres from classical to jazz, latin to gospel, and of course Jazzical. June 21, 2008 - Jazzical headlines at Kalinka Festival 2008, Springfield MA

Jazzical was featured in a solo piano performance for over 800 people at the famous Russian Festival for the Western MA community. Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov, Shufutinsky and Molodze-Via Gra were represented in the Jazzical style to a rousing audience.

June 25, 2008 - Jazzical @ Sun Valley!

Joel A. Martin returns to Sun Valley, Idaho playing new Jazzical compositions, classical music and swinging jazz in an intimate solo piano performance for arts patrons of Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

August 2008 - Jazzical in Kyrgyzstan with the Kyrgyz National Symphony - in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan at Philharmonia Hall. Not only will Jazzical be featured with full orchestras but Joel will play the Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor with them! Concert date May 3. He will also be giving lectures, workshops and working on a multi-national Jazzical Music project with Akton Isabaev, Kyrgyzstan's most famous pop star. Sponsored in part by the personal foundation of Kyrgyzstan President Bakiyev.

Summer, 2008 Jazzical Arts Alive! - Joel is working on a six-part Jazzical Arts in Education series for online and high definition TV called "Joel Martin's Jazzical World." ALSO, Joel is developing the first ever Jazzical Arts Curriculum for educators, musicians, and non-musicians alike, from grade school on up.

September 13, 2008 - Jazzical returns to Darien CT - Jazzical will be one of the headliner acts at a HUGE celebration of Darien, CT sponsored by Darien Revitalization, Inc. Joel will also be the Musical Director for the afternoon celebration of cabaret entertainment produced by Carole Claps and Darien Arts Center. More info is coming.

October 7, 2008 - Jazzical @ Tuesday Morning Music Club, Springfield MA - For the opening meeting and concert of this most prestigious and longest running music club in Massachusetts, Jazzical and classical solo piano selections will be featured. Trinity United Methodist Church, Springfield MA. 11 AM - 1 PM.

October 9, 2008 - Jazzical comes to Barton College in Wilson, NC - That is right everyone, the Jazzical Man will be performing with Wilson Symphony Orchestra an evening of Jazz, Classical and Jazzical music. Who knows what will be on the program but it is guaranteed to be an amazing night for all. Details will be announced in the summer but it is DEFINITELY happening!

March 24-30, 2008 - Joel returns to the Savannah Music Festival and wins the Gold Medal for the THIRD TIME IN A ROW, this time with singer Kiley Watson at the American Traditions Vocal Competition!

April 6, 2008 - Jazzical Family Interactive Concert with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus at Carnegie Hall - A major exploration of classical, jazz, and Jazzical with Joel, BYC Director Dianne Berkun and the Chorus. Audience participation is high on the list, with singalongs and jazz improvisation...A fun-filled family event for everyone. This concert features 3 compositions written and arranged by Joel especially for BYC including the the first interdisciplinary Jazzical version of Debussy's "Golliwog Cake Dance."

April 6, 2008 - Westchester Oratorio Society Jazzical Gala - at the NEW Emily Shaw's in Pound Ridge, NY for a wild "fete noir" of brand new Jazzical music with Joel's piano trio! Not to be missed...

May 30-31, 2008 - Encore Jazzical Performance with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus at Kumble Theater, LIU - If you have not heard any of the Jazzical compositions written especially for BYC, come to the Kumble Theater in Brooklyn to hear the Brooklyn Youth Chorus' Spring concert featuring the first interdisciplinary Jazzical version of Debussy's "Golliwog Cake Dance." Also on the program is Joel's arrangement of Billy Joel's hit "The Longest Time." More information, click here.
